Guess It's Going Around

So on Sunday we were having a nice day. Then when Gregory got up from his nap, he was burning up. His fever for the next few days ranged from 102-104. But the doctor won't see him until it's been 72 hours. So we dutifully wait until Wednesday, and then Robert took him in while I got in a morning at the office.

I was sure it was going to be an ear infection, but it was not. The strep test was also negative. So I guess it's just a virus that's going around and we just have to wait it out. Well, today Gregory still had a fever, but it was the 99.5 - 101 range, which is much better. We didn't even treat him with Tylenol and Motrin today, but just let it all run it's course. And he was much more cheerful today. All of that is good, and I have images going through my head of healthy children and a day or two where I can get a bit caught up on all the work I missed at the office this week.

Then as we're drinking our tea tonight, there is crying upstairs. Up I head, and Judith is whining and crying that she needs to go potty. Of course I tell her to go. When we get into the bathroom, she wants help with everything and wants the light on. Well, it doesn't take touching her - I just need my hand near her to realize she's burning up. The light goes on and she's totally flushed and clammy, and telling me she's cold. So now she gets the Tylenol, a glass of water, and is back off to bed. I guess the visions of sneaking in some work this weekend are out the window. I had hoped that continuing to send her to day care this week even though I was home with Gregory would cut down her chances of catching this. Guess not. Oh well.

Well, last week on Friday when the clock went off, Grampa said, "Gee, if I didn't know better, I'd think I'm coming down with a sore throat." As they say, the rest is history.

So today, he's one week into it and is well on his way to getting better. The only thing different is, he didn't lay in bed crying that he had to go to the bathroom.

Good job mom and dad. By the time we arrive on Thursday, everyone should be on their way to feeling better. Praying you guys can stay well for a while, too. Keep the hands washed and the hand sanitizer nearby.

Love,
