Making Progress

We moved into our new home on the 24th, and have been slowly making some progress getting unpacked and settled ever since. AT&T finally set-up the internet yesterday. They were supposed to set it up on the 25th, but changed the due date to Sept. 1 without explanation. Frustration. But, all is now good, and so here is a quick update.

First, moving with two kids is challenging! You can get a little bit done, while explaining everything along the way, but then you have to move onto getting someone water, or nursing someone, or changing a diaper, or playing a game, or tending to an owie, or getting a snack, or holding and cuddling someone, or ... you get the idea. But Judith keeps looking around saying, "I think I am going to be very happy here!" And that's priceless!

Of course, for those coming to the baptism this weekend, we will not be all unpacked and set-up, by any stretch of the imagination. But I'm hoping for a functional kitchen and bathrooms by then! In the meantime, here's a quick picture of the little boy getting ready for his visitors. He turned three months old last Saturday, and is moving from his 6 month to 9 month clothes now. Wow!

And for the family, here's a quick overview of the schedule of the weekend:

Friday:
  • Katie in town and helping get food ready.
  • Bill arrives later in evening.
  • Karen and John arrive late at night and go straight to hotel.
Saturday:
  • Breakfast for all family in town at new house, 8:30.
  • 9:30, Ginny, Karen and Judith go to hair salon and flower studio
  • 10:00 Katie leaves for Oakland airport to pick up Pete and Alex
  • 12:00 Ginny, Karen, Judith, Robert, John, Bill, and Gregory have lunch at Rubios
  • Immediately following the girls will stop at Costco to get cake, ice cream, flowers and any other last minute needs
  • 3:00 - get cars loaded
  • 3:15 - leave for church
  • 3:30 - meet folks from Ginny's office and Grandma and Grandpa to set-up for baptism dinner at church
  • 5:00 - Mass followed by dinner and clean-up
  • After clean-up: Anyone who would like can come back to the house for visiting
Sunday:
  • 9:00 - Continental breakfast at Central Park here in town - kids play in the fountains, on the playground equipment, adults play, run, visit, etc.
  • 11:00 - Return to house
  • Rest of day - visit, BBQ, relax
  • Mid-afternoon - Bill leaves for SJC
Monday:
  • Katie, Pete and Alex leave for airport and early flight home
  • Karen, John, Grandma and Grandpa come over for breakfast
  • Karen and John leave for airport and home
  • Grandma and Grandpa visit for the day
Tuesday:
  • Grandma and Grandpa leave for airport and flight home
  • Ginny goes back to work for the first time since Gregory was born - oh my!!!
Anyway - we'll see how it all goes. As we mentioned, just be patient with the fact that we'll have been in this house less than two weeks and not be fully settled. And as a foreclosure, there is no living grass in the yard - but we still have toys for the kids and kids at heart to play with, and we'll have lots of food and beverage.

We look forward to seeing those who will be here, and will be sure to post pictures of everything for everyone else as soon as possible. And now, it's time for me to get back to unpacking this kitchen - have a great afternoon and evening!!!

Wow, what a schedule! Hope everything is going smoothly.

FYI, Will is just now (at a little over 7 months) growing out of his nine month clothes. So hopefully Gregory will stay in that size for a while :)
