Oh it was so good to see the Bears looking like a real football team last night! They had a running game, they had defense, and Orton even completed some passes at key moments. Yeah! Now we just need to Cubs to remember that they're the best team in baseball and play like it, and life will truly be good! Of course, Robert was very disappointed by his poor Lions who did not have an auspicious start to their season.
Just a quick update that we have AC now. Yeah! Fortunately, Robert thought he heard something Friday morning and ran downstairs. Sure enough, the AC guy was there. They had not called us to tell us he was coming. But he came and it's all fixed, so that's great. It was an installation issue - they but the valve in improperly and then just forced it on to make it work, but by doing so allowed it to get chewed up by the motor over time. As a result, all of the coolant leaked out. So it's fixed for now, but could leak again. Oh well - if it does they'll just call they guy again.
No word yet on a plumber to deal with our water issue. Eventually this will all be taken care of...
In the meantime, little unpacking happened this weekend. I handled six boxes and the linen closet area on Friday. Robert unpacked a box on Saturday and a box on Sunday. That was about it. We had too many things on the "to do" list this weekend.
One of those items was the second birthday party of one of Judith's friends from day care. Kamren's family was very nice, but I am not a fan of these types of parties. I think I will need to respectfully decline more frequently. It seems the thing to do out here is have these huge parties with all of your kid's friends, and their families (because you can't leave two year olds on their own for a few hours!), and your neighbors, and your family. And this was a large family! I just don't understand that many people (that aren't family) for a toddler birthday party that they will not remember. And I don't understand the need for everyone to bring gifts for a toddler who already has multiple rooms full of toys. Silly.
Anyway, it strikes me as being a lot more about the parents than the kid. And it seems quite disproportionate to other important events. If you set that level of expectation that early, then what? How do you make it bigger and grander? You've already done the swimming party with the large blow up thing and all the friends and family and the huge bbq feast. Now what? Oh well...just not our thing I guess.
No Monday Night Football for us tonight without cable. Oh well. Next week (if installation goes well) we'll be able to check it all out.
And on a random note, now that Robert ordered me a new cell phone (to replace the one I lost while moving), I am like all the "cool" kids (read idiots) with an earpiece so that I can always talk aloud to myself and act like I'm just "on the phone." :-) But the best part of it is that I have a camera on this phone and now have a cute picture of Judith as my wall paper on my phone. Yeah! And Robert found our camera late last night, so we should be able to take more pictures of Judith soon so you can get updated pictures of her. I know these entries aren't as much fun without that!
